Music is an important part of this book series, as it is an important part of my upbringing.
With my dad as a Jazz drummer and my mom as a church choir director, there was NO way music wouldn't be a big part of my life growing up. We were always listening to music in the house and the car, and I grew up singing and humming to myself often.
So the music in my life had to be mentioned in the books.
Music is a big part of my life, and when I look back on the "Soundtrack of My Life," there are so many reflections to take away.
I encourage you to take a look at your own "life soundtrack," and see what you discover from this kind of musical exploration.
I personally recommend a free e-course offered by Woz called "The Soundtrack of Your Life E-Course." There is so much to take away from evaluating the music in your life that's important to you.
There is a story to be found in everyone's soundtrack!

Lighthouse's "1849" - Lighthouse was a band I listened to a lot growing up in Canada, and is still one of my favorites. This song was always one of my favorites, but particularly was an important song to highlight in the book because it freakishly foreshadows our own family journey to the States.
And, OF COURSE, James Brown's "Living in America!" This song finds its way in all three books. It was our theme song for quite a while in the Carrick household.
This song shows up in Book Three: "Hallelujah! I'm a Bum!" A Nana and Soupy song.
