I can't be the only weird one out there, can I?
Hello?
Anyone there?
Oh, good!
Whew! Glad to know I'm not alone!
The definition of "weird" here isn't for people who stand out as weird necessarily. Some people go out of their way to be different, just to find some sense of identity.
The true act of "Wearing your Weird" is about embracing and exhibiting your true self.
There are many of us who look completely normal, but we feel we will never fit in anywhere. We're the square pegs of society.
We weirdos are the CREATIVE people... the THINKERS.
And the thing about creative thinkers... by very definition, we don't "FIT IN" ANYWHERE.
And I'm sorry, but we never will.
The only place we fit in is with each other... and "each other" can be very difficult to find, because most people HIDE their "weird."
The books I've written are not about a young girl who wears her "weird badge" bravely.
I wish that was the case.
There are times she removes her "weird badge" and hides it in her pocket - as most of us do.
Because it's simply the easier and safer thing to do.
It's no fun to be teased.
But the book series IS about how IMPOSSIBLE it is to RUN AWAY from your Weird.
I thought moving to a new country would help. I hoped my Weird would be left behind in Newmarket, Ontario, stored away in a crack in my bedroom wall, where it would be safe from ever being discovered again. Moving to a new country would surely bring the possibility to BE someone new as well.
But I learned the harsh truth...
When you move anywhere, your Weird moves with you.
On this website I plan to explore details about the book series, and offer some activities and hopefully workshops to help you on your own "weird" journey!
